Deep fryers use hot air instead of oil, so not only are they healthier than air fryers, they are also more versatile and energy efficient than ovens. They are one of the most popular kitchen gadgets and as a result, millions of people share their recipes and meals using the air fryer. But there are some things that deep fryers don’t cook very well.
Air fryers cook more than chips and canapes, but they’re limited when it comes to grilling and chicken.
Depending on the model, the basket or wire shelf has a smaller capacity than the oven, so baking may not be possible.
“Aside from the obvious question of whether they fit in the air fryer basket, large cuts of meat and whole chickens cook unevenly in the fryer,” explains Stephanie Pixley, non-essential food editor at America’s Test Kitchen.
According to experts, the side closest to the fire can burn well and dry out before the side farthest from the fire is cooked and safe to eat.
An air fryer is not a real air fryer, so if there is no crust on the food, you can end up with a mess.
For example, mozzarella sticks with breadcrumbs are good, but cheese without any coating will simply melt into puddles.
This also applies to fried cheeses, which can burn under intense hot air pressure.

Unfortunately, they don’t: “They get so dry and dusty it’s like chewing on sandpaper,” Stephanie adds.
Air fryers are designed for dry cooking, so trying to cook something that requires immersion in water during the cooking process won’t work.
Even with a plug-in that allows you to pour water into the fryer, the fan will never get hot enough to boil the water and successfully cook the beans.
Before reheating the popcorn in the microwave and repacking the ready-made popcorn bought from the supermarket, the popcorn had to be put in a frying pan with a little oil and heated.
The chamber of an air fryer may look like a closed pot, but the air fryer does not usually get hot enough to make popcorn. The temperature of an air fryer is typically 350 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, but it takes 400 to 460 degrees Fahrenheit for popcorn to pop.
Not only does using an air fryer produce super crispy fries, but using less oil than frying means it’s a healthier option.
If you prefer to make potato chips from scratch, take 4-5 large potatoes (about 1 kg) and peel them.
They should be between the french fries and the thick fries – if the sticks are too thin they can crack, and if they are too thick they won’t fry.
Pour into the bottom of the fryer, the spatula part, add a tablespoon of sunflower or olive oil and toss the chips to coat evenly.
Use the paddle to program the fryer for 30 minutes. After this time, make sure the fries are soft and cooked through. If not, cook for another five minutes. Season well before eating.
Just pierce the sausage a few times with a sharp knife, this is optional but helps release more fat.
Bake the striped bacon skin for 6 to 10 minutes, the back bacon takes 4 to 8 minutes to cook, if you like the crispy crust you can leave it for a few more minutes.
