Kathleen Ashmore, a chef and blogger known as “katcancook” on TikTok, often shares her easy recipes on the video-sharing platform.
As it turns out, we all make french fries wrong, because there is a secret ingredient that makes them super crispy.
The chef has uploaded her French fries recipe called “Healthy Deep Fryer French Fries with Secret Ingredients”.
“The secret is in the cornstarch (known as cornmeal in the UK) — so when you mix potatoes with olive oil and any seasoning, you add a tablespoon of cornstarch and then heat them up at 380 [190 degrees C] for 14 minutes.
A few minutes later Katherine showed up her finished fries and it’s safe to say we’re absolutely hungry right now.
Not only did the fries look amazing, they were just as good as McDonald’s, but they were very crispy.
Kathleen’s video clearly impressed a lot of people as it quickly racked up 74.4k views in just two days.
TikTok users dismissed Kathleen’s frying lesson, with some even calling it “brilliant.”
