This is exactly what Australian couple Riley Whitelum and Elaina Karausu are doing with their two sons, Lenny and Darwin.
“God, I’m all for having kids, don’t let kids change your lifestyle, make them fit you, but I’m drawing a line here.”
The couple sailed around the world on their sailboat La Vagabond (hence the name) for eight years and amassed 1.7 million subscribers on YouTube, where they share videos of their adventures as a family.
A property called Frying Pan Tower off the coast of North Carolina is an oil rig in the middle of the ocean and costs $1,550 a night.
“Love you baby,” Riley called from upstairs as Elayna and Darwin went upstairs together. “Now I hate you,” she exclaimed.
AirBnB, which doubles as a research facility, is beautifully refurbished – it has a pool table, a unicycle, occasional memorabilia like Rogue volleyballs, an infinity pool and a large kitchen. It has eight bedrooms and two bathrooms in total.
Richard, who owns AirBnB, explained that the property was his “big treehouse from childhood.” He then turned it into a place where people could learn about marine life.
During their stay, they set off fireworks, built bonfires, snorkeled and fished in the open ocean.
The couple has amassed a huge following on social media by sharing their epic adventures around the world. They fund their venture with advertising dollars from YouTube and the Patreon crowdfunding platform.
